A Big Thank you |
|
On November 3, nearly 200,000 people came out to vote in this year’s City election. Thanks to the support from my constituents,
friends, and family, we ran first in the race for City Controller, and moved on to the December runoff. I am incredibly grateful
for that support, and with your continued help, in January I will begin a new chapter in serving the city as your Controller.
I want to emphasize that the fight is not over. On November 30th early voting will start for the seven City runoffs,
and will continue through December 8th. Election Day is Saturday, December 12th. Once again, I encourage all of you to
engage in our democratic process and most importantly get out and vote.
This past Saturday, hundreds of people came out to Sesquicentennial Park in Downtown and attended Houston Sleep Out,
to raise awareness about Houston’s homeless population. The event benefited SEARCH Homeless Services, a non-profit organization
which helps the homeless achieve self sufficiency.
Seeing Houstonians from different walks of life come together for a greater cause reminded me of what makes this city so great.
Once again, from the bottom of my heart thank you for all for the support you have given me, and more importantly,
for what you do to support your community.
